As proud owners of this beautiful piece of Portugal we (Peter, Marianne, Bas and Niels van den Blink) welcome you to our estate Monte da Gravita where peace, relaxation and inspiration come together in the middle of a picturesque landscape.

In the beautiful, varied landscape of the Alentejo, translated from the Moors (Tejo Alem): "the land along the river Tagus", lies the estate Monte da Gravita. No less than 7 hectares of unspoilt nature on the edge of the nature reserve: Parque Natural do Sudoeste Alentejano and Costa Vicentina, where you will find beautiful, quiet beaches in less than 30 minutes (guaranteed without traffic jams!) Of which several are also very suitable for a visit with small children. The somewhat larger place Odemira is at 20 km. away and here you will find nice restaurants, shops and several supermarkets

Our spacious, detached holiday homes are fully furnished and offer all the privacy and comfort to ensure a relaxing stay. Monte da Gravita has a lovely spacious pool, filled with pure spring water and comfortable loungers on the sun terrace.

On request we can provide breakfast and we like to have a typical Portuguese meal with Alentejo wines several times a week, with the emphasis on tasting fresh, local products. If desired, there is of course a suitable alternative for the children. In each house there is an extensive information folder with many tips to further discover the culture and beautiful surroundings. We are officially registered as Alojamento Local (AL).

Accommodation

Casa da Palmeira

This originally-rebuilt house with 50 cm thick walls offers a pleasant coolness in the summer, while in the colder periods the heat of the wood-burning stove is kept inside.

Casa do Pinheiro

This completely renovated house, of 40 m2, overlooks the meadow with behind it the hills where at the end of the day a spectacular sunset can be admired.

Casa dos Cachos

The spacious, four-person apartment Casa dos Cachos (house of the grape bunches) is attached to the main house and has a lovely, sunny, private terrace with dining table, lounge bed and comfortable loungers.

Area

Driving through the picturesque, undulating landscape of the Alentejo with its cornfields and cork oaks and several small villages, you will immediately notice that the peace seekers among you have made the perfect choice!

The same serene peace that you find on Monte da Gravita is characteristic of the whole environment The Alentejo is a hilly area between the Tagus and the Algarve and offers a very varied landscape with forests, beaches, livestock, farmland, numerous breeding storks and impressive reservoirs (including the famous Santa Clara reservoir). The Alentejo is the largest province of Portugal (26,000 km2) and also the region with the lowest number of inhabitants per km2. the feeling of solidarity is still strongly fostered here and this is reflected in the music (Fado), the traditions (processions and parades followed by a "baile" = Portuguese dance evening) and the local cuisine.

Lovely places in the area such as Odemira (20 km), São Luis (10 km) and the slightly busier resort of Vila Nova de Milfontes (20 km) offer something for everyone; shopping, culture, going out and delicious regional dishes at the various restaurants. The possibilities for lazy beach days, long or short walks (Rota Vicentina), cycling, Surfing and horseback riding are abundant and from Odemira you can make wonderful canoe trips on the cleanest river in Europe, the Mira

Casa da Palmeira

This originally-rebuilt house with 50 cm thick walls offers a pleasant coolness in the summer, while in the colder periods the heat of the wood-burning stove is kept inside.

The house has a total area of 55 m2 and has 2 bedrooms; a room with a double bed and a room with a bunk bed (above 1-person, under 2-persons) and in the living room there is a sofa bed. The large, covered terrace offers you the possibility to enjoy breakfast in the morning at the first sunbeams with a view of the garden, where you can find old olive trees and fruit trees. For cooling you can use the swimming pool in the garden and if the children have fun in the orchard on the playgrounds, you have, lying in the hammock or on a comfortable lounger, all the time for a good book!

Everything you need is present: a bathroom with shower, toilet and sink, in the kitchen a fridge, a 4- burner stove, a coffee maker and microwave. The bedlinen is changed once a week, the towels and the kitchen textiles twice a week.

Prices for stays longer than 3 weeks and hibernate on request. Final cleaning 35 euros, for stays up to 4 days: final cleaning 17,50 euros.

Casa do Pinheiro

This completely renovated house, of 40 m2, overlooks the meadow with behind it the hills where at the end of the day a spectacular sunset can be admired. The sunny terrace offers a beautiful view over a large part of the estate with several hidden spots where you can relax. For the necessary cooling during hot days you can use the swimming pool located in the garden and the children can have fun on the trampoline and the swings in the orchard.

The house has a cozy living room, an open kitchen with all accessories and a pellet stove. The separate bedroom has a double bed (an extra cot can be placed and in the living room there is a sofa bed) and through a hallway you enter the bathroom with shower, toilet and sink. From the living room you reach the terrace where you can enjoy the beautiful view from a comfortable lounger. The bedlinen is changed once a week, the towels and the kitchen textiles twice a week.

The house has a large bedroom (+/- 20m2) with double bed, a smaller bedroom (+/- 10 m2) with a bunkbeds (an extra cot can be placed), a bathroom with shower, sink and toilet, a cozy living / kitchen with four-burner stove, refrigerator and dining area.

For the necessary cooling during hot days you can use the swimming pool located in the garden and the children can have fun on the trampoline and the swings in the orchard.
